American Israeli Action Coalition (AIAC) Endorses Conditional Cease Fire in Gaza
The American Israeli Action Coalition (AIAC) today endorsed a cease fire in the current hostilities in Gaza provided that it is based upon all of the conditions set forth below.AIAC is a non-partisan, non-political, issue-oriented NGO which was formed in Israel to represent the united voice of the more than 250,000 American citizens living in Israel on issues that pertain to the continued safety and security of Israel and the Jewish people worldwide.
"Hamas is a terrorist organization which has committed numerous acts of terror against the innocent Israeli population for many years, without any condemnation by the world's civilized countries," stated AIAC chairman Harvey Schwartz. "It showed its true colors by engaging in a massive build-up of its offensive weaponry during the 6 month cease fire between it and Israel, which Hamas then unilaterally refused to extend and fired more than 300 rockets and missiles into Israel's civilian population. Hamas is clearly the terrorist aggressor and must be made to pay a heavy price for its terrorism as well as prevented from committing any further acts of terror."
The conditions are:
- The immediate release of Gilad Schalit
- The unconditional designation by the United Nations and European Union of Hamas as the aggressor
- The unconditional declaration by the UN and the EU that Israel's actions were fully justified and in full compliance with international law
- The immediate surrender by Hamas of all of its rockets, mortars and all other offensive weapons
- The immediate full disclosure by Hamas of the location of all smuggling tunnels and routes, followed by their immediate destruction
- The immediate surrender of all senior military and political leaders of Hamas followed by their trial before an International Court for their aggression against Israel
- The payment by Hamas of full compensation for all physical damages and personal injuries caused by Hamas firing into Israel over the past eight years
- The payment by Hamas of full compensation for all costs incurred by Israel leading up to and implementing the Cast Lead operation
- The immediate return of Israeli control of all southern border crossings into and out of Gaza
- The immediate implementation of effective mechanisms to prevent the construction of any further smuggling tunnels between Egypt and Gaza, including stationing at the Egyptian border of an international force comprised predominantly of US military and forces of other countries acceptable to Israel to implement this policy, with full authority (granted by the UN) to destroy any newly constructed smuggling tunnels
- The stationing of a similar international force within Gaza with orders to prevent by all necessary means any further hostile action by Hamas (or others) against Israel
- The adoption and immediate implementation of appropriate mechanisms acceptable to Israel to enforce all of the foregoing conditions
